In the meantime, he played an important role in establishing pilotage services at İzmir Aliağa Refinery (1972-1973).
He was retired in 1979, with a profound enthusiasm and entrpreneurship to start a business for pilotage and towage services with his unique expertise in order to fulfill his idealism acting as a leader and poineer in Turkey innovating those services into their most contemporary applications.
In 1983, he has started to render pilotage services in Akçansa Çanakkale Cement Factory Terminal, being the first private sector enterprise for pilotage services in Turkey.
Later in 1992, he has established UZMAR SHIPPING LTD., being a maritime company with pilotage, towage and salvage services as core functions of business. In 1993, UZMAR was exclusively licensed by the Ministry of Transport, Maritime and Communication to act as the Authorised Pilotage and Towage Organization in Nemrut Bay/Aliağa region. Since then, he is proud of his UZMAR being the most remarkable and competant pilotage and towage service providers, with an outstanding reputation expanding even well beyond the borders of Turkey.
Later in 1996, he has established a shipyard, which he proudly calls “Tug and Workboat Factory”, in KOSBAS Kocaeli Free Zone and started to custom-build tugs and other workboats both for his in-house operational needs and widely for international market demands.
Turning UZMAR into a brand of safety and quality, today he is still young-at-heart in maritime business with his everlasting enthusiasm.
They call him “Father of the Mariners”, reflecting his always sharing rich heart and soul.
Wishing him all the best and health.
